RUcube is all about solutions to fix various types of cubes ( mostly known as Rubik's Cube) with details. It will be demonstrating 3x3x3, 2x2x2, 4x4x4 and some other cubes. How to solve a 2x2x3 Cuboid?

 2x2x3 Cuboid - How to solve 2x2x3 Cuboid?

2x2x3 Cuboid is much easier to solve compared to 3x3x3 and others.

There are not plenty of complex algorithms to remember but some small ones.


Before Starting to solve the cuboid, it should be scrambled and the following image shows after mixing up

Let's start with the white as usual.

There is no cross here. so need to match the side colours with white when fixing the white side. 

If no side colour matched when fixing the white side? no problem. we can fix that easily.

If the side colours are matched when fixing the white side or partially matched, it is easy to fix the side colour issue a little bit easy than in the no-match scenario.

The below image shows the WHITE side fixed but no side colour matched at all.

We can try to mix using matching side colour and fix the white side again or use the following small algorithm to fix the colour matching issue.

(R2UR2U'R2) y' (R2U'R2UR2)

Use the above algorithm until fixing the colour issue in the both upper and bottom layers. Turn to up side when doing the algorithm and do the algorithm for convenient rotations. 

By using the above algorithm, we can fix both the Upper and Down layers. we have to keep only the unsolved layer on the upper side.



By keeping the Cubiod like the above image and doing the algorithm 
(R2UR2U'R2) y' (R2U'R2UR2)


The Green-Yellow pieces are fixed, then keep them to the left and do the same algorithm again

Then the TOP layer will be fixed



Do not care about the middle layer. it will be fixed at last. in cuboid, we solve it from up and down to the middle. this is why the cuboid has double rotation in R, L, F and B movements.

Now Time to fix the BOTTOM layer, 

Turn the Bottom/Down layer top UP, then it will be the upper layer; check whether any two pieces are matched or not? 
if matched;
Keep the matched colour side to the left and do the same algorithm used above
(R2UR2U'R2) y' (R2U'R2UR2)

It will give a cuboid like the one below;


Then we remain to fix the middle layer.

How to fix the middle layer?

Here one middle piece is placed correctly (Blue-Orange). Others should be rotated Anti-Clockwisely.

So, use the following algorithm to fix that easily

keep the Blue-Orange piece to the Left as shown and do the following algorithm

R2m' R2mR2mR2 m' ( m- middle layer )


The front side is Blue, the Left side is Orange, the Right side is Brown and the Backside is Green

it is just like the middle layer pieces are in rotation in an anti-clockwise direction. 
Blue-Brown should come to the Front side, the Green-Brown edge should go to the Backside and the Green-Orange edge should move towards the Left side.

To get the solution, the Right side rotates twice and the middle layer rotates anti-clockwise once. then the right side rotates twice again and this time the middle layer rotates clockwise once. 

Next, the right side twice and the middle layer rotates clockwise once. and lastly do the right side twice rotations.

R2m' R2mR2mR2, ( m- middle layer )



Use m' move then and It will have a Cuboid like the below image


To solve this Keep the solved side to the left and the right

then do the following algorithm

[The Right side twice and the upper side twice]

 R2U2 

By doing the above simplest algorithm several times, we get one side of the middle layer fixed cuboid as shown in the below image. 

To fix the Green-Orange and the blue-Orange edges, keep them to the right side and do the same algorithm mentioned above which is R2U2.



Then Keep the Solved (fixed) side to the left and do the same algorithm  R2U2 

Several times and the Cuboid will be fixed.

It is very interesting that no hard moves to remember but solving the cube very less time-consuming.
