How to solve a 2x2x2 Rubik's Cube?

The Smallest cube in Rubki's cube series is 2x2, there is a 1x1 cube but nothing to solve in it. so, obviously, 2x2 becomes the smallest cube( not by size) in several columns and rows.



It has two layers. TOP and BOTTOM.

need to fix BOTTOM and go for the TOP layer.



As shown in the image, Notations with the direction of rotation as mentioned. There are several patterns in the TOP layer when mixed up. there are some possibilities as shown in the below image.





 How to solve a 2x2 Rubik's Cube?



First of all, select the base colour, usually choose white as the base colour.

There are no predefined algorithms to fix the base.

After mixing the cube;



There are no crosses in a 2x2x2 cube but a little bit similar to solve it as a 3x3x3 cube.

fix the bottom layer then the upper layer

After solving the BOTTOM Layer;




The below image shows how the TOP layer UPPER side yellow colour pieces after solving the BOTTOM layer. Ignore the other colours. 

Need to focus only on Yellow colours.

use the image below and the given algorithms to fix the 2x2x2 cube.



Use U R U' L' U R' U' L

Then we get shaped like fish headed to FRONT-RIGHT in a 3x3x3 cube.


THE BELOW IMAGE SHOWS ALL SIDES EXCEPT THE BOTTOM LAYER(WHITE SIDE)


Hold the cube-like above and do 

                    L' U' L U' L' 2U L 

after that we get the cube as follows; do not worry about other colours. just focus on the yellow.




flowing image shows all sides except the BOTTOM layer white side.



Here, we have to fix two diagonal corner swaps.
(FRONT-RIGHT and BACK-LEFT)


Method-1 - use the flowing algorithm to swap diagonal corners

Method -2- Just like 3x3x3, keep the cube as shown above and do the following algorithm to fix the BACK layer colour.

  R' F R'  BB RF'R' BB R'R' 

now we have to swap two adjacent corners.


Method - 1 -- By using the following algorithm, we can swap adjacent corners ( Hold the solved side to the left and unsolved corners to the right side) - Here Green is to the left side.

(R2UR2U'R2) y' (R2U'R2UR2)

x - means Rotate the whole cube along the x-axis
y - means Rotate the whole cube along the y-axis
z - means Rotate the whole cube along the y-axis

x,y,z     - Clockwise
x',y',z'   - Anti-Clockwise


Method -2 - By keeping all solved side to back( here, Green). Then do the following algorithm

 R' F R'  BB RF'R' BB R'R' 

Then Cube will be fixed.

find the fixed cube;
